CUMULUS MEDIA | Atlanta, GA has an immediate opening for a Tax Staff Accountant at the Corporate Office. The Tax Staff Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and reconciliation of income and franchise tax reporting, property tax, and annual report filings. This position offers the opportunity to join a small team of specialists at a dynamic media company.  Applicants must be detail oriented, dedicated, and self-motivated. Applicants must be adept at multi-tasking with the ability to work well with team members to meet multiple deadlines

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile and analyze data to complete and file personal property renditions
  • Reconcile real and personal property tax returns with supporting data
  • Prepare and keep current all annual report and business license filings
  • File registrations with the Department of Revenue and Secretary of State
  • Prepare franchise tax and gross receipts tax returns
  • Assist with and review year-end tax accruals
  • Assist with reconciliation of income tax accounts and preparation of monthly and quarterly tax journal entries
  • Assist in the preparation and payment of estimated federal and state income taxes
  • Correspond with state and local tax authorities to resolve discrepancies and notices
  • Work with internal field personnel and external service providers in delivering information requested in time
  • Keep abreast of current developments in tax compliance and IRS Regulations.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects, effectively prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach and  ability to work with individuals at all levels
  • Highly organized, process-minded and detail-oriented
  • Flexible and able to operate in a high energy,  changing environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint
