Digital Director/Midday On-Air Talent

Cumulus Media | Indianapolis is searching for an experienced Digital Director/Midday On-Air Talent.  The Digital Director/Midday Air Talent will be responsible for managing and advancing the online content and social media footprints of our three radio stations as well as hosting a daily midday radio show on our country station, WFMS.

Who We Are:   Cumulus | Indianapolis currently features three stations in the Indianapolis area and surrounding counties: Country 95.5 WFMS-FM, Classic Hits 104.5 WJJK-FM and CHR Energy 93.9 WYRG-FM.  The cluster of three stations reaches thousands of listeners on a daily basis.     

Top candidates for this position will possess expert abilities in social media communication and marketing across the various social media platforms combined with the necessary skills to consistently update and maintain the content on our radio station websites. The preferred candidate will also have experience managing a staff along with the ability to lead a team of radio personalities in a creative and collaborative environment. The position will include a daily air-shift, weekend voice track shift, live appearances & remotes and endorsement opportunities. A love of country music and working knowledge of the format is preferred but not required.

To be considered for this position, candidates will need to be versatile, time-management pros, and possess exceptional on-air and digital abilities with a razor-sharp attention to detail and social media skills that are second to none. The best candidates will have the ability to multi-task and react in a calm and decisive way when dealing with challenging situations. People skills and the ability to work closely with talent, department heads and a skilled sales team are critical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, implement, and manage the online packaging of our brands, to include the radio station websites and each station’s various social media channels
  • Work closely with the programming & promotions teams to develop and deploy social media strategies for each of our radio stations
  • Work with the Program Directors and Promotions Directors to develop contesting ideas in the digital space and deliver new sales revenue opportunities
  • Successfully coach, direct, develop, appraise and motivate on-air talent to maximize their efforts with “best practices” on the radio station websites and throughout our social media platforms
  • Create unique content attractive to the target demo in the digital space and help drive increased radio station ratings by growing & converting our digital audience to listening audience of our terrestrial brands
  • Operate (as needed) control board, remote broadcasting and other related broadcast production equipment


  • Minimum 2 years of on-air radio experience
  • Strong digital expertise
  • Expert computer skills and above average proficiency with website maintenance and social media communication
  • Previous staff management experience preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and the discipline to focus on what is the highest and best use of your time
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creative and strategic thinker and problem solver
  • Deep knowledge & awareness of music, pop culture & current local/regional/national events and how they relate to each station’s target demo
