Director of Benefits

Department: Human Resources
Location: Atlanta, GA

Cumulus Media | Atlanta, GA has an immediate opening for a Director of Benefits at the Corporate Office.  The Director of Benefits serves as the leader of the ongoing plan design, management, and administration of all benefits plans for the company including medical, dental, vision and 401K.

Key Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for development, management, administration, implementation, servicing and communication of company-wide benefit programs, including Medical, Pharmacy, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability, Wellbeing, EAP, COBRA, and 401(k) as well as the related vendor management associated with benefits programs.  

Reporting directly to the CHRO and SVP of Human Resources, the Director of Benefits will analyze current benefit programs, research best practices, determine areas for improvement related to better utilization/cost effectiveness, and recommend the design, budget, and implementation strategy of benefit programs. The Benefits Analyst role reports directly to the Director of Benefits.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Management of vendor relationships
  • Implementation of annual open enrollment and roll-out of new programs
  • Management of fiscal and ongoing activity of benefit plans such as funding, forecasting, budget management, and maintaining audit and compliance control for the plans to eliminate/prevent financial risk and penalties to plans and to the Company

 Qualifications:

  • Ten years of experience in benefits, 5-years management experience in mid or large size organizations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources, or equivalent experience
  • Experience managing field and remote locations throughout the US with benefits eligible populations of at least 1,500 team members
  • Strategic thinking and planning
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities, strong project management skills
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level
  • Strong customer orientation
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including presentation skills
  • Familiar with HRIS and Payroll systems and impact to benefits administration. Workday HCM system preferred
  • Experience in managing small benefits teams and external broker resources
  • Understands basic benefits accounting and financial impact, budgeting, and the financial reporting of benefits plans with the ability to actively partner with Accounting and Finance
