Operations Manager

Department: Programming
Location: Little Rock, AR

Cumulus Media’s Little Rock, AR location is offering a great opportunity in the programming side of the radio broadcasting industry as Operations Manager of Spoken Word Station KARN FM, KAAY AM, and KARN AM. Candidates must have a track record of ratings success and a keen awareness for how listeners consume news and information in today’s immediate mobile driven society. Digital and social strategies must be as engaging as on-air tactics and execution. You should be a news and current events junkie that is plugged in to what people are talking about in Little Rock and around the world. You should be able to lead a live and local staff, and also have expertise in programming satellite fed broadcasts. The best candidates will be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and react in a calm and decisive way in breaking news situations. You must be skilled in talent coaching with a proven record of making good talent great. In addition, you understand how to get TSL in spoken word radio and have extensive experience in working with producers, talent, and the news director to constantly produce outstanding content. Excellent writing and production skills to image and brand your stations are essential. People skills and the ability to work closely with talent, department heads and an aggressive sales team are critical.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Content, Brand, On-Air Talent, Digital and Broadcast Operations, and Promotional Activity of three spoken word stations in the Little Rock metro.
  • Support the Cluster Operations Manager by leading day to day operations of three spoken word stations in the Little Rock metro.
  • Develop broadcasting and digital strategies that will strengthen the presence of the station brands in the market.
  • Analyze your brand’s digital metrics for both the station and air personalities to measure performance.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Promotions to create brand—appropriate content to drive digital audience, fan engagement and revenue.
  • Oversee operations and affiliate communication for Statewide News Network (Arkansas Radio Network)
  • Inspire and manage talent, both on-air and off, to expand the show digitally and socially.
  • Lead and direct News Reporting activities for News/Talk Station.
  • Direct and monitor station programming in accordance with FCC rules and regulations, company policy and applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for direct reports.
  • Drive results through your team and hold them accountable to business metrics and expectations, as well as ensuring the support market sales efforts.

 

Experience:

  • Prior experience as a broadcaster, either in news, sports, or as a DJ preferred
  • Prior experience as a Program Director or Assistant Program Director preferred, especially within News/Talk
  • Knowledge of FCC broadcast rules and regulations
  • Excellent team leadership with the ability to set goals and manage performance
  • High degree of organization and ability to multi-task in fast paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills
