General Sales Manager

CUMULUS MEDIA | Kansas City is searching for a proven leader with a track record in sales and management to serve as a General Sales Manager for 4 of our local stations.  Cumulus Kansas City ratings are the highest in the market across multiple demographics. This General Sales Manager has a unique opportunity to create a new, additional team of sellers for rapid-growth of Millennial-focused stations, CHR 95.7 The Vibe, and Alternative KCJK X105.1. Additionally, this GSM will add a senior seller for Urban A/C Magic 107.3 and oversee revenue execution plan for heritage 102.5 Jack-FM.  Combined with market-exclusive digital assets within our C-Suite array of products, the cluster of seven exclusive-format stations provides the best and most solutions available to serve our client partners.  #1 ranked 101 The Fox, KCFX, 28-year flagship of Chiefs Radio Network, #2 ranked 94.9 KCMO-FM Classic Hits, and 103.7/710 KCMO Talk Radio complete the lineup in this market-leading cluster.

Primary responsibilities include generating station sales revenue and achieving sales goals, training and managing the sales staff to achieve sales budgets and outpace the market, developing new business, managing inventory and pricing effectively, and maintaining and growing client relationships.  Our sales leaders have the support of great products to market, tremendous training tools, and a team that supports business development and rewards performance.

Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience as an Account Executive or Sales Manager in media industry with proven track record of success
  • Management experience in local radio, preferably in a similar format
  • 4-year college degree preferred
  • Proficient in all aspects of radio and digital sales, including use of quantitative/qualitative research, event development, and multiple-platform/integrated sales expertise
  • Familiar with implementation of CRM system, budget procedures, daily sales accountability and recognition programs, inventory management and collections procedures
